On Monday 27th November, MHC were proud sponsors of an Australian Institute of Energy event in Melbourne on demand response.  A big crowd of about 100 people packed into the Trust bar in Melbourne to hear from an impressive line-up of speakers from AEMO, ARENA, EnergyAustralia and Coles, who insightfully provided the voice of the customer.

The event provided insight into the progress of the ARENA/AEMO demand response trial and the role demand response could play in Australia’s energy future – from direct customer savings to network services, frequency services and wholesale market risk management. It also explored the challenges of implementing these new services for energy retailers and issues such as cybersecurity, risks to elderly customers participating in residential demand response trials and how demand response can be packaged as a simple and cost effective solution for customers.
